My City: Marrakech Feature

Local life runs around the concept of shopping in the markets, drinking tea and coffee int he millions of coffee shops and running errands between Mosque prayers. Moroccans take life in their stride and everything is Inshallah (god willing).

After our nightly practice, the 12 of us convened at the long wooden table for a homemade meal prepared by Emma Joyston-Bechal, the owner of this property, as well as Camp Adounia, in the Sahara Desert, and the gorgeous Riad ZamZam

The activities are both thrilling and soul inspiring while the spa treatments are perfectly hedonistic. And the thought that I’ll be spending the nights in a beautiful, deluxe, bedouin style tent under the stars is a dream.

It’s one of those places that captivates you. It inspires you to see all the possibilities in life and at the same time if you aren’t paying attention, it can bring you to your knees.

Our camp, near the tiny village, was as spectacular as the first. This one was right on the beach – hence my dash into the sea – with a shady lounge tent to escape the heat. We spent two nights here, practising yoga and meditating right on the water’s edge.

 Additional Press Features

Portmanteau Productions

Booking of artists for Restival, a festival about culture, nature, creativity and yoga unveiling the art of disconnection.

Dates: From 16 until 20 November 2015

Location: Camp Adounia, M’Hamid, Morocco.

We hired two artists who would interact and work with the festival attendees, involving them in the process of making art while contributing to create a unique experience and atmosphere. Boris Hoppek produced giant blow-up figures that got lost in Sahara’s endless horizon with which people could play. Dunja Jankovic updated body paint art through geometric and minimal shapes that reinforced the feeling of a festival tribe.

This was Restival’s first edition.
