An important part of the holistic Morocco Retreats experience and an integral part of our programme is the wonderful Moroccan Spa Team . They are core to the retreat family and are available to nurture and assist in the energetic flow of your programme. Our Morocco Spa Retreat always begins with the ancient rite which is our traditional hammam.

Hammam

The skin is one of the biggest organs. The hammam not only cleans you but the ritual is an active way of washing away the old before beginning the new. It begins with the warmth and relaxation of the marble and tadelakt, as you unwind and let go. Next black soap made from olive oil is applied to your body, you are then scrubbed by our hammam lady with the local kiss or mitt. This clears all the rubbish and pollution from your pores and gets the blood flooding to your skin. Doused with warm water and left with beautifully soft skin, Rhassoul mineral rich mud is then smothered all over you to feed your skin. Finally you are washed with orange blossom water.

Massage

Next comes a massage, with argan oil, rich in vitamin E. Samir provides our Morocco Spa Retreat team with fair trade organic argan oil from a ladies co-operative in the south of Morocco. Our superb Naz is a miracle worker at relaxing, unwinding, unknotting your body with her deep tissue work. After this lymphatic cleanse you are encouraged to drink water constantly and flush the system.

Water Therapy

Water is an important feature of all Morocco Retreats. As well as being encouraged to hydrate (Morocco is a very dry country), there’s nothing nicer than a rest in the cool pool at Zamzam with your book.  Zamzam is the holy water (spring) created by the Angel Gabriel, which is part of the Haj or pilgrimage to Mecca.

In the Sahara where water is sparse, a cold or hot pale is brought to your tent. In the bathroom you can sit and enjoy a bucket wash in nature perched on your stool with the natural scents of jasmine and orange blossom. After wrap yourself in a towel and relax, finally walk out into the night tingling clean and breathless at the thousands of stars above.

Many other treatments including beauty are available from the Morocco Spa Retreat Team on retreat; manicure, pedicure, reflexology, natural face packs are just some of them. All spa products are sourced or made locally. Most are organic, made using ancient recipes handed down by elders.
