Gratuities
Stay the night in charming adobe houses with hot showers and delicious food before continuing into the Sahara Desert to the magical Camp Adounia. When we leave the desert, we ride through Sahara dunes to Mhamid (the last oasis town of the desert). Here we ride through the old oasis and visit the mud kasbah museum in Moulay Idriss, really experiencing the culture and life of the desert community.
Programme Details
These programmes are for the intermediate and experienced. They are about about 5/6 hours riding a day- around 20 to 30 km.
All our rides are guided by professionals guides- how many guides depends on the level as well as the number of participants.
Horse treks are available all year, weather permitting, apart from Horse treks in the Sahara which take place in mid October to April.
We start at 10 a.m on the first day, and end around 15h30-16h p.m on the last day.
At lunch time, it's always a picnic break in nature. Our horses have saddle-bags for the lunch and also for your small bits and bobs i.e sunscreen, camera…etc
Sleeping is in bivouacs (traditional Moroccan tents with good comfort: mattresses, cushions, carpets and blankets/sleeping bag)
In the camp, we have a nomad shower: a shower after your day on horseback. We have no electricity and we have dry toilets in keeping with the natural experience.
Our driver takes care of all the luggage and provisions in a 4x4 car . He arrives first and sets everything up. We relocate daily.
Moroccan tea and pastries are always waiting when you return from your days riding.
We have dinner and a campfire every night with the team. Breakfast is served every morning before we set off.
Note: Clients must take out travel insurance with repatriation on booking.
MOROCCO TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Airport transfer from Marrakech to Riad Zamzam & Spa ; dinner and breakfast. Medina Tour with Guide in the afternoon. Options for Spa treatments.
Day 2: Breakfast, leave to Ouarzazate arriving via Kasbah Telouet (The Galoui Palace). Arriving, settle into your hotel for dinner.
Day 4: After breakfast, take a guided tour of this famous UNESCO Site, leave with drivers to Tamgroute; arrive at your hotel and meet your guides and horses. Introductory dinner at your hotel.
Day 5: After breakfast, ride to Tagonite down the Draa Valley; stopping for lunch on the way. In Tagonite, we will stay in mud houses in Palmeraie with our horses. Enjoy a hot shower and dinner.
Day 6: After breakfast, ride to Camp Adounia through the Sahara Desert; arrive enjoying the sunset where we will enjoy a delicious dinner and luxury en-suite camping. Relax around the fire in the evening and enjoy the local music and drumming.
Day 7: Breakfast, rest, enjoy the dunes and some sand-boarding. We will leave for an evening sunset ride in the stunning dunes of Erg Birtam.
Day 8: After breakfast, a ride is provided to Mhamid (the last oasis town of the Moroccan Sahara) and its old Oasis visiting the women’s co-operative. After lunch, explore the old oasis and ride through Mhamid desert to the Kasbah museum of Moulay Idriss; ride to the hotel Le Pasha and enjoy a shower and dinner at this pretty oasis hotel.
Day 9: Breakfast at the hotel and then return to Marrakech with your desert drivers via Agdz and visit the Argan Association in the Atlas Mountains before returning to Riad Zamzam in Marrakech for dinner.
Day 10: Breakfast and leave to the airport.
